Backstory

Once upon a time, in a kingdom far from the bustling cities of the world, there lived a man known only as the Executioner. He was a mysterious figure shrouded in darkness, a man of few words who never strayed too far from his post.

The Executioner had been appointed by the king of the kingdom to carry out the most heinous of punishments. He was responsible for executing all those deemed guilty of the most heinous of crimes, such as murder, treason, and blasphemy.

Though the Executioner was feared by many of the people, he was respected and even revered by some. To them, he was a symbol of justice, a man who would bring fear to those who sought to do wrong in the kingdom.

Though the Executioner was a man of few words, he was known to hum a somber tune as he carried out his dark duty. It was said that this tune was a reminder of the suffering and death he had seen in his long life.

One day, the Executioner was faced with a task that he had dreaded for years: executing a young woman who had been found guilty of murder. As he prepared to carry out his duty, he found himself unable to do it. He could not bring himself to take her life.

In a moment of desperation, he begged the woman to run away, to escape the kingdom and live her life in peace. She took his advice and fled, never to be seen or heard from again.

Though the Executioner was relieved that the woman was free, his guilt was too much to bear. He knew that he had failed in his duty, and so he resigned from his post and disappeared from the kingdom.

From that day forward, no one saw the Executioner ever again, but his somber tune could still be heard haunting the kingdom on foggy nights.
